2012 Lone Star Park Handicap Race Favorites

Nate's Mineshaft - had a string of four straight wins interrupted last time out in the Grade 3 Alysheba on May 4th. Before that were impressive wins in the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap by 7 lengths in record time, the Grade 3 Mineshaft Handicap and a pair of Allowance races. He is fast and has to be considered the favorite in the Lone Star Handicap.

Apart - also had a string of four straight placings in graded stakes action last year including a win at the Grade 3 William Donald Schaefer Memorial at Pimlico in June a second in the Grade New Orleans Handicap and thirds in the Grade 3 Mineshaft Handicap and Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs. Since that time Apart has struggled - a fifth last time out in the Grade 2 Alysheba Stakes followed a ninth in the Grade 1 Whitney Invitational. Apart has been good in the past but enters on sketchy form.

That makes four races in 2012 with two wins and two third place finishes.

Marilyn's Guy - has four wins in the last five starts including an impressive score last time out in the Grade 3 Excelsior Stakes on March 17th and the As Indicated Stakes February 18th, both at Aqueduct. Marilyn's Guy has been impressive and is an interesting sleeper in this race!
