2014 Mr. Prospector Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Speechify - Ralph Nicks pupil has seven career starts with four wins and a second place finish - two wins in three starts this year. Last time out was a nice win by 3 3/4 lengths in the minor Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 16 after an ugly eighth in the minor Gin Rummy Stakes on that same track in October and an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track way back in January. He makes his graded stakes debut off his best career result and has won three of five career starts on this track. Paco Lopez had the call aboard the 119 pound highweight and one to beat from post 6.

Risk Factor - has 13 career starts for trainer Rohan Crichton with four wins, two seconds and a third place finish - Saturday marks just his second graded stakes start. He enters off a fourth after weakening in the minor Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes November 16 and an Allowance score October 22 - both at Gulfstream Park West and a ninth in the Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap at Parx in September. He also won an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track in July. Risk Factor has two wins and a second place finish in his last three starts on this track and will hope to keep that streak going Saturday - with Jose Lezcano aboard from the rail.

Mr. Prospector Stakes 2014 | Remaining Contenders

Little Daddy - makes his graded stakes debut Saturday for trainer Carlo Vaccarezza off a sixth in the minor Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes November 16, an Allowance Optional Claiming score November 6 and a seventh in the minor Showing Up Stakes in October - all results at Gulfstream Park West. He looks for his first stakes score in his sixth try Saturday from post 2 with the legend John Velazquez aboard.

Singanothersong - was at his best at this time last year for trainer Ronald Pellegrini when he won two straight races on this track - including the 2013 edition of this race. He has just three starts this year with just one top-3 finish to show for it - a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming two back on this track September 5. Last time out was a disappointing eighth in the Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes at Gulfstream Park West - his other start this year resulted in a fifth in the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes in February. Singanothersong has to be in the conversation as the defending champ but he hasn't looked great this year. Juan Leyva hopes to change all that from post 7.

Simmstown - Martin Wolfson trainee makes his first start since January when he finished eighth in the Grade 3 Hal's Hope Stakes on this track. He ended 2013 by winning three of his last four starts - so we know that he can run with the best. The wins included the 2013 minor Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes, and two Allowance races on this track. Simmstown has 14 career starts with four wins, a second and three third place finishes and hopes to channel some late 2013 energy into his first start in 11months. Irad Ortiz will be in the reins from the outside post.

Calamondin - will hit the track for the ninth time for trainer Cathal Lynch having posted four wins and a second place finish. He enters having won three of his last four starts - all Allowance races with a tenth in the minor Laurel Dash Stakes sandwiched in there - his only stakes action to date. He seems to be in OK form ahead of this weekend and will have Joel Rosario guiding him from post 3.

Mongolian Saturday - finished third in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby in July 2013 - his best graded stakes result to date and went on to a second in the listed Straight Line Stakes at Arlington in August. He has failed to hit the board in his last five graded stakes tries - a seventh in the Parx Dash being the best result lately - not good. He enters off a fourth in the minor Canterbury Stakes on this track December 6 after a third in the minor Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes at Gulfstream Park West and a Starter Optional Claiming score on that same track 10 days earlier. He has placed in just three of his last nine starts overall but has been OK at least the last couple of months. Orlando Bocachica rides from post 4 Saturday.

Master Blender - has seven career starts for trainer Kirk Ziadie with three wins and three second place finishes - no stakes races as of yet. He enters on a three race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Gulfstream Park West October 18 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming and a Maiden score on this very track this past summer. Master Blender enters his stakes debut with some momentum and will have Jesus Rios in the irons from post 5.
