Sr. Quisqueyano - had a couple of minor stakes wins at Gulfstream in 2013 - the Quality Road Stakes in October and the Eight Mile East Stakes in July. He placed in just four of nine starts in 2014 but has been decent so far in 2015. Last time out was a reasonable second in the Grade 3 Skip Away Stakes at Gulfstream March 28 which followed a ninth in the competitive Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap March 7 and an impressive win in the minor Florida Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park January 17. He has eight wins, seven seconds and three third place finishes in 31 career starts and has two wins and two seconds in his last five starts overall. Gerard Melancon gets the mount the rail Friday as Sr. Quisqueyano looks for his first graded stakes score as the 6/5 morning line favorite.

Rise Up - Tom Amoss trained colt is the more accomplished entry in the field. He won the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot in November, 2013 and also has posted two minor stakes scores in his career. He enters having placed in five straight races - two wins including last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Fair Grounds March 20 and the minor Woodchopper Stakes in December on that same track and three third place finishes. Rise Up has seven wins, a second and three third place finishes in 16 career starts and enters in good form this week. Richard Eramia has the call aboard the intriguing 4/1 second choice from post 5.

Texas Mile Stakes 2015 | Remaining Contenders

One King's Man - enters off a sixth in his graded stakes debut - the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap March 28 after three wins and a second place finish in his previous four starts. Two back was a nice win in the LA Bred Premier Night Championship Stakes in February which followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score and a second in the minor Louisiana Champions Day Classic in December. One Kings' Man has placed in four if his last five starts and will try to do some damage in graded stakes company Friday. Miguel Mena rides the 9/2 third choice from the outside post 10.

Holiday Mischief - multiple stakes winner has placed in just one of four starts since winning the minor John Bullit Stakes at Canterbury Park in August. He enters off a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming February 20, a sixth in the minor Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint in January and a ninth in the minor Remington Green Stakes in September. He makes his third attempt in a graded stakes and looks to place in the first time in top company. M. Clifton Berry will be in the saddle looking to snap a four race losing streak at 8/1 from post 2.

Texas Air - races in graded stakes company for just the second time Friday - the first was a sixth in the Grade 3 Lone Star Handicap here last May. Hip Four Sixtynine - multiple stakes winner returned to graded stakes company last time out and finished fifth in the Grade 3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland April 4, That followed a third in the minor King Cotton Stakes in February and a win in the minor Fremont Stakes at Delta Downs in January. His other graded stakes action came at this time last year - a tenth in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes and an eleventh in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby. Hip Four Sixtynine has placed in three of his last four starts and could be a threat Friday. Lindey Wade has the mount from gate 6 at 15/1 on the morning line.

Real Appeal Deal - Steve Asmussen trained gelding has 29 career starts with six wins, seven seconds and two third place finishes - but Friday marks his graded stakes debut. He has two career stakes starts with a sixth in the 2014 Maxxam Gold Cup at Sam Houston being the best result. Last time out was a third place finish in a Claiming race March 28 after failing to place in his previous four starts. Real Appeal Deal looks for his first win since an Allowance score in December when he departs from gate 8 at 15/1 on the morning line with Gerardo Mora in the saddle.

Mal Guapo - makes his stakes debut Friday for trainer JR Caldwell having recorded seven wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 25 career starts. F J Uncle Vic - won the minor Star of Texas Stakes at Sam Houston January 17 but has failed to place in three starts since - consecutive fourth place finishes in the minor Premiere Stakes here April 9 and the minor Maxxam Gold Cup in February followed an ugly tenth in the minor Jersey Village Turf Stakes February 14.
