Santa Ynez Stakes 2015 at Santa Anita

Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes takes place at Santa Anita in Arcadia, California this Saturday, January 3. Three year old fillies will be on display when they go 6 1/2 furlongs in Santa Anita's dirt track for a purse of $200,000 and 10 qualifying points for the Kentucky Oaks.

A field of nine three year old fillies will take to the track in the Santa Ynez - race 7 on Santa Anita's Saturday schedule. Post time is 3:30 PM. Here is a look into the credentials of all nine combatants for this Grade 2 stakes.

2015 Santa Ynez Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Seduire - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly has looked good in her six race career - three wins and two second place finishes. She enters off a nice 5 1/2 length win as 3-5 favorite in the minor Golden Gate Debutante Stakes November 29 after a second in the minor Anoakia Stakes on this track October 12 and a fifth in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes in August. She has two stakes wins already and is expected to be competitive again Saturday after two bullet works in the last couple of weeks. Rafael Bejarano rides from the rail.

Light the City - another Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly makes her graded stakes debut Saturday after an OK third as 13-10 favorite in the minor Desi Arnaz Stakes at Del Mar November 16 and a win over Seduire in the minor Anoakia Stakes in her stakes debut here October 12. She has two wins and a third place finish in three starts and should be in the mix when Elvis Trujillo rides from gate 3.

Conquest Harlanate - Mark Casse trained filly has five career starts - three wins and a third place finish. She broke maiden August 3 and caught fire after that winning both the Grade 2 Natalma Stakes and the Grade 3 Mazarine Stakes - both at Woodbine. Last time out was a disappointing eleventh in her first start outside of Ontario - the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies on this track. Conquest Harlanate had won three straight before last time out and will look to rediscover that form. Mike Smith will be in the saddle of the 123 pound highweight from gate 8 in Conquest Harlanate's first start on dirt.

Callback - will race for the third time for trainer Bob Baffert. She broke maiden last time out by an impressive 2 1/2 lengths at Los Alamitos December 4 after a ninth in her debut - on this track November 2. She looks to keep the momentum going in her stakes debut - with Martin Garcia in the saddle from post 2.

Xoxo - Peter Miller trainee is coming off a front running Allowance Optional Claiming score in her third career start after a fifth in the minor Anoakia Stakes on this track in October and a maiden score at first asking in September. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday trying for her second straight victory. Kent Desormeaux rides from gate 4.

Lady Lake - will hit the track for just the second time for trainer Jeff Mullins - the first time was an impressive maiden score on this track November 2. Tyler Baze has the call from the outside post.

Rattataptap - Jeff Bonde trained filly will race for just the second time Saturday off a maiden score at Del Mar November 29. Edwin Maldonado will be in charge of the lightly raced filly from post 6.

Hennythelovepenny - is coming off a last of 12 finish in the biggest stage for trainer Peter Miller - the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies which followed a maiden score October 12 in her third career start. Before that was a second and a sixth respectively in a pair of Maiden Claiming races at Del Mar. She will attempt to break through in stakes company for the first time when she leaves from gate 5 with Fernando Hernandez Perez aboard.

Morning Coffee - Doug O'Neill trained filly has four career starts with just one win to show for it. She enters off a ninth in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes here September 27 after a maiden score in her third career start. Mario Gutierrez has the call looking for Morning Coffee's first top 3 finish in stakes company - from post 7.
